Retrofit in the high-bay warehouse over just one weekend

Contract announcement, March 2017. AUMA Riester GmbH & Co. KG has instructed H+H Herrmann + Hieber to carry out modernisation work in the high-bay warehouse of the company headquarters in Müllheim in the Baden region.

AUMA Riester is a manufacturer of actuators and valve transmissions. The company, founded in 1964, was employing 2300 people all over the world in 2016. In the sector of electric actuators AUMA, as market leader, commands a world market share of more than 20 percent.

To be able to operate on the market with such success, not only technology and production, but also the logistics must be in tune. For in-house material transport and storage, the high-bay warehouse of the company headquarters in Müllheim plays a central role. AUMA has installed a three-lane, high-bay warehouse with 3,400 storage locations, in which every hour up to 30 storage or recovery operations can be carried out.

To ensure trouble-free warehouse operation, H+H has now been commissioned to retrofit the all-important distribution trolley. The trolley, which H+H supplied in 2003, was modified in-house. As part of the modernisation adaptations will be carried out, a new rail system (capable of being levelled so as to compensate for uneven floor areas) will be installed and the wear-affected components on the drive and lifting mechanisms of the trolley will be completely renewed.

The work, at the customer’s plant, is to be carried out over a single weekend in June of this year, between Friday afternoon and Sunday evening. At the start of the following week the new equipment will be commissioned and restarted, so that production sequences will hardly be interrupted at all.
