H+H stacker for heavy steel sections begins operating

May 2013. Mannstaedt GmbH in Troisdorf near Cologne, a world-leading manufacturer of hot-rolled special steel sections, has successfully begun operating the section packing automation system supplied by H+H Herrmann + Hieber.

After the saw, the hot-rolled steel sections are stacked and packed. For this, H+H developed an automatic machine which stacks the sections weighing up to 100 kg/m into packs. For that purpose the individual sections can be laid down after rotating in alternation through 180 degrees so that in each case two matching surfaces rest against one another. The finished stacks are transported by a roller track and chain conveyor to the packing area, where they are automatically strapped and sent to a transfer point for dispatch.

Mannstaedt specialises in the production of hot-rolled, custom-designed steel sections and further-processed finished products and systems. The customer-specific section shapes are used in many fields of application. The company, founded in 1825, serves the automobile, commercial vehicle and fork-lift truck industries among others.
