A fresh wind thanks to modern long-goods crane logistics by H+H

Contract announcement, February 2021. At Aluminium Laufen AG in Liesberg, Switzerland, for many years a customer of Herrmann + Hieber GmbH, now in Friolzheim, the internal logistics specialist is extending the existing, complex and fully automated material supply system of the extrusion plant by a further automatic crane and billet store.

This investment has an important counter-cyclical character by virtue of another innovative impulse.  Aluminium Laufen supplies numerous branches, such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, energy supply, medical technology, or the automobile industry with extruded components and cast products.  In this, Aluminium Laufen attaches great importance, not only to technical excellence but also to the provision of comprehensive services for the rapid fulfilment of individual wishes.  For optimum customer satisfaction, among other things seamless further processing is essential.  These facilities must be supplied quickly and flexibly with untreated sections made in-house and integrated into the existing, fully automatic material flow.  The extension now planned serves to link new CNC machining centres with the already present, unmanned and centrally managed internal logistical system, consisting inter alia of three large billet stores and automatic cranes by Herrmann + Hieber.  Accordingly, this is to be extended by a fourth automatic crane and billet store, together with floor-level conveyor technology.  The scale of the system is sufficient to allow for future enlargement in relation to performance and capacity.  The aim is to supply customers ‘just-in-time’ with ready-to-fit components, as promptly as possible.
